How the Program Works

A structured approach to effective mentorship

Mentors and mentees complete detailed applications outlining their experience, interests, and goals for the program.

2

Matching

Our mentorship committee carefully matches mentors and mentees based on career fields, interests, goals, and availability.

3

Orientation

Participants attend an orientation session to learn about program expectations, effective mentoring practices, and resources available.

4

Regular Meetings

Mentor-mentee pairs meet regularly (in-person or virtually) over a 6-month period, with a recommended frequency of twice monthly.

5

Progress Tracking

Participants set goals at the beginning of the program and track progress through regular check-ins and self-assessments.

6

Program Completion

The formal program concludes with a reflection session, though many mentor-mentee relationships continue informally.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our mentorship program

What is the time commitment for mentors?

The time commitment varies based on the mentorship option you choose. For traditional one-on-one mentorship, we recommend 4-8 hours per month, including bi-weekly meetings (1-2 hours each) and preparation time. Group mentorship requires about 3-4 hours per month, while flash mentoring is a one-time commitment of 1-2 hours. We work with mentors to find an arrangement that fits their schedules.

Can I participate if I live outside Bangladesh?

Absolutely! Our program is designed to accommodate mentors and mentees worldwide. Many of our mentoring relationships are conducted virtually through video calls, email, and messaging platforms. International alumni provide valuable perspectives and insights on global opportunities for our mentees. We particularly encourage alumni living abroad to participate.

How are mentor-mentee pairs matched?

Our matching process is both systematic and personalized. We use a combination of factors including professional field, career interests, skills development goals, mentoring style preferences, and scheduling availability. Both mentors and mentees complete detailed profiles and preference forms, which our mentorship committee reviews carefully to create compatible pairings. We prioritize matches that align mentees with mentors who can specifically address their goals and aspirations.

What support is provided during the mentorship period?

We provide comprehensive support throughout the program, including an orientation session, mentorship handbooks, meeting templates, and check-in points. Our mentorship coordinator is available to assist with any challenges or questions that arise. We also organize optional group workshops and networking events for program participants. Additionally, we have a feedback system to ensure the relationship is beneficial for both parties and to address any issues promptly.

What happens if the mentoring relationship isn't working well?

While we strive to create compatible matches, we understand that not all mentoring relationships develop as expected. If either party feels the relationship isn't meeting their needs, they can contact our mentorship coordinator confidentially. We first try to address any issues through guidance and support. If necessary, we can facilitate a re-matching process. Our goal is to ensure both mentors and mentees have a positive, productive experience.
